Protection through prophylaxis
No matter how thoroughly you clean your teeth: soft and hard plaque builds up over time. If it is not removed it increases the risk of caries and periodontitis.
One of our certified oral hygiene assistants will explain how to properly clean your teeth and how to use dental brushes and floss.
Tartar and plaque will be removed from concealed areas with hand-held instruments and ultrasound equipment during a professional oral hygiene appointment. Your teeth are then polished with a special paste and the enamel protected by applying fluoride.
The dental hygienist will also determine the bacterial composition of your oral flora to establish a guideline for your susceptibility to caries.
The annual oral hygiene appointment is included in the Smile prophylaxis program and is free of charge to Smile members.
Individual care
Periodontitis patients and patients with a permanent brace or implants receive special treatment at our clinic. They receive exact instructions on how to clean problem areas and are invited to professional oral hygiene appointments at shorter intervals.
Periodontitis in particular requires two to six treatment sessions per year – depending on the damage to the gums – to stop the inflammation. Harmful germs in gum pockets are destroyed with soft lasers in our clinic.
Children
Proper oral hygiene training should begin at an early age. We show children who come to our clinic that cleaning your teeth can be fun. We use intra-oral cameras to show kids the areas that need special attention from Mr. Toothbrush. A simple saliva test is sufficient to estimate the risk of caries.
We place prophylaxis in the foreground at our clinic. After all, regular and professional oral hygiene is the best prevention against caries and periodontal disease. Our recall system will remind you of your appointments with the prophylaxis assistant.
